El Mini-Mysterico..

Oh, what is this?

It's my new project;

Is Ultra-Top-Sekret, so I may only show you this small and uninformative portion of the virtual-stitches chart, for now.

There should be more info as soon as my needle-embargo has been lifted.  And as soon as the darn' thing is finished!

In the meantime, be impressed by Mexican Wrestler El Santo's effortless powder blue polo-neck cool:

[Sadly, Blue Demon's tie clashes HORRIBLY with his mask; you know you're not a main eventer when you get stuck with the drip-dry polyester lemon shirt and lapels-ahoy brown jacket]

Thursday 2 October 2014

To assist me with my 'busy' 'lifestyle', I have employed an assistant:

This is Lucille; she will be dealing with various vital administrative tasks such as: chasing moths, staring at the wall, and sleeping on my pattern pieces.

I've also taken advantage of her extensive experience at having a fight with bubble-wrap, and running away from the postman, to put her in charge of the Impostor's Needle post and packing department; she will be dealing with all despatch and delivery queries and processes, with the exception of actually posting anything (since she's not allowed out to go to the postbox, and most parcels are too heavy for her anyway) and wrapping parcels (as the sellotape tends to get fuzzed up with paw fur).

Project Bleeding Coin

I started a new project.

"He's not fat. He's only large"

I've been working on it for a month, and so far I have done...about 20%

*whimper* SO far to go...

Captain Howdy says 'Howdy!'

Well...since this post contains SUPER SCARY IMAGE... It is below the fold, for the easily-skeered.

Scroll downdowndown to see my newest completed project (designed to discourage people from sitting next to me on the train to and from the Stitch and Craft show the other week)...

Boo! Ooh, she is even scarier than French knots in three strands of metallic, no?

DMC threads on 14-count black(my eyes! my eyes!) aida; this is the 'subliminal' face from the film The Exorcist. (more info here: http://captainhowdy.com/media/subliminal-images/)

The original chart was photo'd from a capture of the image [thank you Beloved Spouse!] of the cover of Mark Kermode's BFI Modern Classics on The Exorcist; indispensible for anyone interested in that odd, odd film. Seriously; Kermode has forgotten more about The Exorcist than even William Friedkin ever knew. I'm so pleased that she didn't turn into the Misfits/Crimson Skull logo that she looked like before I finished the eyes. Also, the colour scheme is a lot less yellow than my cheap digital camera's flash makes it appear.

So, now I have the taste for photo charts, what next? Maybe some sweet sweet Dawn of the Dead; because sewing on black aida is like childbirth: eventually you forget about the pain...

Took the leap...

...and added things to my Folksy shop:

http://www.folksy.com/shops/ImpostorsNeedle

yes, okay, slightly understocked just now, but I've been busy...and there's been work...and stuff...and...I'm idle and disorganised *hangs head in shame*

Surely I'm not the only person who finds the making-of-it part MUCH more fun than the working-out-what-to-do-with-it-then part of crafting?

Actually, it was going to be 'Impostor's Workshop', to reflect all my non-needly creative impulses, but since the spouse and I are crowded into a three-room flat with his books, my books, his books, my dvds, his books, and my craft supplies, 'Impostor's Workshop' would more accurately be described as 'Impostor's lap, the sofa, the living room floor, and occasionally spilling over on to the small part of the coffee table that isn't covered with books and back issues of The Economist'; which I'm assuming would be bad for searching, or SEO, or something.

Never has a grown woman more urgently required a garden shed...

So... here we are again

So...

...

...Got married.

Almost bought a kitten.

Had a birthday.

Found many more grey hairs.

Opened a Folksy shop (http://www.folksy.com/shops/ImpostorsNeedle).

Did I miss anything?

Friday 7 August 2009

My sunshine is returning on Sunday from the grim and desperate Colonies; expect a week of hearts, flowers and kittens...

...or skulls, bosoms and chainsaws.

Either or.
